And let’s not forget Star — a rare medium well-done!
SCENE: Star’s apartment.
“His secretary had the most beautiful body,” Clark droned under the hypnotic spell. Star turned to look at Lois and saw the shock on her face from Clark’s remark.
“That is…next to Lois,” he explained further.
Lois blushed at that remark, a blush not unseen by Star. She had wondered about the two of them — had wondered if they would ever get over whatever stubbornness was keeping them apart and realize just how perfect they were for each other.
She brought Clark out from the trance and walked them both to the door. After closing it behind them, she sang, slightly off-key…
“Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Then somebody bends unexpectedly
Just a little change
Small to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the Beast
Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the son will rise
Tale as old as time
Tune as old as song
Bittersweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong
Certain as the sun
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the Beast”

Okay, this is from the episode (sorry, can’t remember the title) in which Clark dumps Lois for her own safety. She rants, kicks him out, and they are still on opposite sides of the closed door (don’t know if it’s accurate, if not, just say artist’s license ).
Lois:
Think of me, think of me fondly
When we’ve said good-bye
Remember me, every so often
Promise me you’ll try
And on that day, that not so distant day
When you are far away and free
If you ever have a moment,
Stop and think of me.
(Instrumental Break)
Clark:
Think of me, think of me living
Silent and resigned
Don’t think of me, trying so hard
To put you from my mind
I know I said my love was always true,
And as unchanging as the sun
Just remember I do love you,
Though I said our love was done.

Just Say Noah
By Jude AKA Judith Williams
Clark has just brought Lois back to her apartment where they decide to put marriage talk on hold because it’s driving them both ‘a little nuts.’
Lois: Let’s not say the ‘M” word for a while, and just be in love.
Clark: I can do that.
Lois: Pretty scary, this forever thing, huh?
Clark: It isn’t the “M” word that makes my love forever, Lois. My love is forever because …it just…is.
The kiss and he flies away. She watches him from the window with love and adoration in her gaze. She says, “Wow!” and sings.
You’ve got the cool water
When the fever runs high,
You’ve got the look of lovelight in your eyes,
And I was in crazy motion
‘Til you calmed me down,
It took a little time,
But you calmed me down.
They’ve got a wall in China,
It’s a thousand miles long,
To keep out the foreigners,
They made it strong,
And I’ve got a wall around me,
That you can’t even see,
It took a little time,
To get next to me.
Some people never say the words,
“I love you,”
It’s not their style
To be so bold.
Some people never say those words,
“I love you,”
But like a child
They’re longing to be told, mm
When something goes wrong,
I’m the first to admit it,
I’m the first to admit it,
And the last one to know.
When something goes right,
Oh it’s likely to lose me, mm,
It’s apt to confuse me,
It’s such an unusual sight, oh
I can’t, I can’t get used to
Something so right,
Something so right.

Virtually Destroyed
by Supermom
Lois and Clark sat in Gabby’s Deli. After polishing off a large pastrami sandwich and cream soda, Lois spoke to Clark.
“But see, the point is…I’ve gotten through a lot of my fears. A lot. Except maybe one. And it’s not even a fear, it’s just… a concern. About… that thing.”
“Actually, you bring up a good point, because we’ve never really talked about… our pasts,” Clark answered.
Lois scooted her chair around the table to be closer to Clark. “Right, exactly, and I just want you to know why I’VE always been a little skittish about crossing that intimacy threshold. And you’ve been so understanding about it, I wondered if maybe YOU’RE… skittish.”
“Well, my experience is a little different,” Clark began hesitantly.
“Mm hm.”
“I’M a little different,” he continued, still hesitant.
“Sure.” Lois nodded in agreement.
“I mean, I’ve had girlfriends, I’ve…dated. But… that thing? The intimacy threshold? The big threshold?” Clark went on, still uneasy about the conversation. “I’ve never actually… crossed it. I’ve stepped right up, gotten a good look but….”
“Oh, my God,” Lois said in surprise.
“I’m not from here. So I’m always asking myself, do I really belong? Am I supposed to have a life with someone or…?” Clark continued on, trying to explain his situation to Lois.
“OH MY GOD!” Lois pushed away from the table a bit.
Thoroughly embarrassed, Clark sheepishly asked her, “Lois, are you listening? Cause I’m kinda pouring my heart out here.”
Clark takes Lois’s hand, the lights dim, and he sings:
“I am not such a clever one
About the latest styles
I admit I was never one
Adored by local gals
Not that I ever try to be a saint
I’m the type that they classify as quaint
I’m old fashioned
I love the moonlight
I love the old fashioned things
The sound of rain
Upon a window pane
The starry song that April sings
This year’s fancies
Are passing fancies
But sigh and sigh’s holding hands
These my heart understands
I know I’m old fashioned
But I don’t mind it
That’s how I want to be
As long as you agree
To stay old fashioned with me
(musical bridge as he tap dances around the table)
I’m old fashioned
But I don’t mind it
That’s how I want to be
As long as you agree
To stay old fashioned with me
Oh won’t you stay old fashioned with me
Oh please stay old fashioned with me ”
As he sings the last phrase, Clark sits back down and the lights come back up.
Lois stood up and looked toward Clark. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m just a little… Could we walk?”
As they rounded the corner, Lois wrung her hands and asked him, “So what you’re telling me is, you’re a… a… vir… very patient man?”

The street Scene after leaving Gabby’s Deli
LOIS: So what you’re telling me is, you’re a… a… v… very patient man.
CLARK: I needed to be sure. I needed to meet the one person I could share everything with.
LOIS: And I admire that, the way you’ve dealt with this… and I also feel a little…
CLARK: Yes?
LOIS:I just wish you’d told me before. I mean, this is big.
CLARK:I didn’t exactly know how to bring it up.
LOIS: And it puts a little more pressure on a situation where there’s plenty of pressure already…
CLARK: Lois, there’s no pressure. Because I’m sure I’ve made the right choice. You’re the one I’ve waited for.
The background music starts and Clark begins to sing:
At any gambling casino
From Monte Carlo to Reno
They tell you that a beginner
Comes out a winner
Beginner fishing for flounder
Will catch a 17 pounder
That’s what I always heard
And thought absurd,
But now, I believe every word
For I’ve got beginner’s luck
The first time that I’m in love
I’m in love with you
Gosh, I’m lucky
I’ve got beginner’s luck
There never was such a smile
You make gray skies blue
Gosh, I’m fortunate
The thing we’ve begun
Is much more than a pastime
For this time is the one
Where the first time is the last time
I’ve got beginner’s luck
Lucky, through and through
Cause the first time that I’m in love
I’m in love with you
Lois sighs and smiles at Clark.
LOIS:I love you too. I just I wish I’d… waited, too.
CLARK: (takes her in his arms)shhhhh, don’t.
LOIS:Well, I do. Especially since they were all practically federal disasters.
CLARK:Then look at it at that way. I’ll be your first… non-federal disaster. And you’ll be my first …

Scene: Lois and Clark are on the fire escape while their parents celebrate Christmas inside her apartment.
Clark: Your father thinks it was the Kryptonite that saved me, but I don’t. I think it was you.
Lois looks endearingly at Clark and sings:
No one’s gonna harm you,
Not while I’m around.
No sir, no one’s gonna harm you,
Not while I’m around.
Demons are prowling everywhere
Nowadays;
I’ll send them howling, I don’t care,
I have ways.
Clark sings:
No one’s gonna hurt you
No one’s gonna dare;
Others may desert you
Not to worry, call me, I’ll be there.
Demons may charm you with a smile for a while,
But in time…
Nothing can harm you, not while I’m around.
Lois:
Bein’ close and bein’ clever’s not like being true.
Clark:
I don’t need to, I would never hide a thing from you…
Not now.
Lois:
No one’s gonna hurt you, no one’s gonna dare;

There is a place that we must find
A place where Lois is confined
And where she waits out of her mind
It’s called Lex Luthor’s hideaway.
Jonathan: Oy vay!

And now a final farewell from Clois.
Scene 2 from Seconds. After struggling for control of the molecule disintegrator, Clois and Lex lie dying, zapped by the deadly weapon. Superman rushes to Clois’s side and holds her slight body in his arms. Rgarding him with regret, her eyes begin to reflect death. She says in a voice tinged with hope “I did good didn’t I?” When he doesn’t reply, she sings:
Will you remember me?
Say you’ll remember me.
Don’t let my life just slip away;
Remember all our memories.
Remember all the good times that we had?
Please forget the things I did when times got bad.
Though I know you cannot love me, you are still my sun;
I want to feel your warmth upon me, want to be the one.
I’m so tired but this isn’t sleep
I’m falling over the edge of something much too deep.
It’s funny when we hurt so much we cannot say a word;
We are screaming inside but we can’t be heard
I’m not afraid to love you, but I’m afraid to lose;
I’m clinging to a past that doesn’t let me choose.
Once there was a darkness, deep and endless night;
I gave you everything I had; oh, you gave me light!
And will you remember me?
Say you’ll remember me.
Don’t let my life just slip away;
Remember all our memories.

“Somewhere out there
Beneath the pale moonlight
Someones thinking of me
And loving me tonight
Somewhere out there
Someones saying a prayer
That we’ll find one another
In that big somewhere out there
And even though I know
How very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing
On the same bright star
And when the night wind
Starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we’re sleeping
Underneath the same big sky
Somewhere out there
If love can see us through
Then we’ll be together

The scene: the Daily Planet. Superman has been proclaimed the leader of the New Kryptonians and is going home to lead his people against Lord Nor’s insurrection. As he makes his way through the crowd to make his farewell address, the world is watching. All eyes turn to him, waiting with bated breath for these final words of wisdom. In many hearts burns the desperate hope that he will change his mind and stay. Slowly, the man of steel climbs the stairs where Lois Lane is waiting and heaves a heavy sigh. He turns to face the throng, goes down on one knee and lifts his arms into the air:
Give my regards to Tempus,

Clark, to himself:
Drink with me, to days, gone by
A new world, you go now to
Here’s a pretty girl who went to your head
She’s a witty girl you almost had wed
Do you trust she’ll wait for you?
Lois, to herself:
Drink with me, to days, gone by
Can it be, you fear goodbye?
Will he still remember you when he goes?
Could it be this pain is nothing he knows?
Is his love, just one more lie?
Lois and Clark:
Drink with me, to days, gone by
To the life that could have been
Let the heart of our love never say die
Let some part of our love not say goodbye

Lois is packing special items for Clark to take to New Krypton with him. The doorbell rings and Lois answers it to find it is Clark.
Lois: Hi.
Clark: Hi.
Lois throws herself into his arms and holds him tightly. After a few moments she lets him go and notices the clothing she is holding.
Lois: Your sweater. You leant it to me that time that we flew to Bangkok. I thought you might need it. Who knows what the weather is going to be like on New Krypton. It might be … I don’t know what to do here. I could pack some cookies or darn some socks. I can’t even write you.
Clark: I don’t know if I can do this.
Lois: You can.
Clark: What I want to do is just take you in my arms and fly away.
Lois: From what? Yourself? Your destiny? I will be here waiting for you Clark. And if you can return you will.
Clark: You have so much faith in me.
Lois: Oh, well that’s all I have. I think that’s what’s keeping me standing here. Cause when I let myself imagine that tomorrow without you … I start to shake.
Clark: Lois, if there was anyway that I could take you with me I would.
Lois: I know. I know.
She notices a gift box on the table and picks it up. In it is a ring on a chain.
Lois: I never got a chance to wear my wedding ring. I was hoping that you could keep it for me.
She puts it around Clark’s neck.
Clark: I will keep this as safe as I keep my love for you. Lois I have loved you from the beginning.
Lois: And I’ll love you till the end.
Clark: In my heart I am your husband.
Lois: And I’m your wife.
Clark: Always.
As they gaze into each other’s eyes the music swells and Clark begins to sing:
How could I have known, this would take me away
I don’t know for how long
Maybe always they say.
Our lives have been torn apart
Our dreams are on hold.
But my heart I leave with you till I get back home.
Remember me.
For the love we share.
Remember me.
Like I’m standing there.
And in time I will be.
Till I return, remember me.
There’s a thousand things that I already miss.
The warmth of your touch
The thrill of your kiss.
It’s not the way we planned it, but it’s something I must do.
So hold my picture in your heart till I come back to you.
Remember me.
For the love we share.
Remember me.
Like I’m standing there.
And I always will be.
Till I return, remember me.

Scene: First Contact with the Mothership
They are prepared to receive you, Kal-El,” Zara tells Clark as their small craft docks with the massive mother ship.
“Ready?” Ching asks.
“I just want this kept… low key,” Clark says. “They don’t have to make a big deal over –” His voice trails off as the wall morphs away. They’re in a large ceremonial hall, crowded with Kryptonians. Black and gold “S” banners hang from the walls.
“Whoa,” he says as they all bow to him.
Ching walks with Clark towards two men, the crowd lining their path, whispering final instructions. “Walk two paces ahead of Zara. Greet the elders with open arms, palms up, say ‘Brothers in bonds, I greet thee thrice.'”
“You’re kidding?” Clark murmurs. Nervous, Clark approaches the two elders with his arms extended, palms up, saying, “Brothers in bonds, I greet thee thrice.”
The older elder replies, “I am Trey, Chief of the Elders. We are humbled and grateful to greet you… Kal-El!” He cries out the name clearly to the crowd, and they repeat it reverently, and everyone in the room bows down to Clark. Before Clark can react, music swells in the background and Trey suddenly stands up and begins to sing:
Trey:
Consider yourself at home.
Consider yourself one of the family.
We’ve taken to you so strong.
It’s clear we’re going to get along.
Consider yourself well in
Consider yourself part of the furniture.
There isn’t a lot to spare.
Who cares?..What ever we’ve got we share!
If it should chance to be
We should see
Some harder days
Empty larder days”
Why grouse?
Always a-chance we’ll meet
Somebody to foot the bill
Then the drinks are on the house!
Consider yourself our mate.
We do’t want to have no fuss,
For after some consideration, we can state…
Consider yourself
One of us!
Consider yourself…
Clark:
At home?
Trey:
Consider yourself…
Clark
One of the family?
Ching:
We’ve taken to you
Clark:
So strong?
Zara:
It’s clear…we’re…
NKers:
Going to get along
Trey:
Consider yourself…
Zara:
Well in!
Trey:
Consider yourself…
Ching:
Part of the furniture
Zara:
There isn’t a lot to spare
Nkers:
Who cares?
Whatever we got we share
Trey:
Nobody tries to be lah-di-dah or uppity–
There a cup-o’-tea for all.
Nkers:
Only it’s wise to be handy with a rolling pin
When the landlord comes to call!
Trey:
Consider yourself
Our mate.
We don’t want to have no fuss
Trey, Ching, Zara and the rest of the Nkers:
For after some consideration we can say
Consider yourself One of us!

Scene: Lois and Clark are out on Lois’ fire escape watching the mother ship as it leaves Earth.
“It seems like years ago we stood at this window and said good-bye to each other,” Lois says as she strokes Clark’s arm.
That was the worst night of my life,” Clark replies.
She shifts position so she can sit on his lap. “Did any part of meeting up with your roots feel good? I mean, was it satisfying in any way, or was it a disappointment to you?”
“Maybe all of those,” Clark says after a moment. “I kept waiting for this incredible feeling of connection, you know, like I was exactly where I belonged… but that’s only happened to me once in my life.”
“When?”
“The day I met you,”
Lois smiles at him. “For a spaceman you are the most romantic person I’ve ever known. Earth guys don’t stand a chance against you.” She touches his face gently, and kisses him.
After a moment Clark pulls away from the kiss. He pulls out the chain he wears, with Lois’ wedding ring still dangling from it. “I told you I’d keep it safe.”
“As safe as your love for me,”
Clark moves Lois around to sit on the fire escape stairs, kneels in front of her and begins to sing:
The more I read the papers, the less I comprehend.
The world and all it’s capers and how it all will end.
Nothing seems to be lasting, but that isn’t our affair.
We’ve got something permanent,
I mean in the way we care.
It’s very clear our love is here to stay.
Not for a year, but ever and a day.
The radio and the telephone.
And the movies that we know.
May just be passing fancies and in time may go.
But, oh my dear, our love is here to stay.
Together were going a long, long way.
In time the Rockies may crumble,
Gibraltar may tumble, they’re only made of clay.
But our love is here to stay
The music ends, Clark looks at Lois. “Marry me, Lois, Let’s not plan, let’s not wait! Let’s not let clone-makers — — or psycho psychiatrists, or women who shrink people into little people keep us apart. Just marry me,” he pleads earnestly.
Her heart full of love, Lois smiles through her tears. “You know, that’s precisely what I was thinking,” she replies as she wraps her arms around him and they kiss.

Scene 1: The end of Soulmates. Evil has been vanquished, Good has triumphed, Love has conquered all and Lois and Clark are ready for their honeymoon. Clark lowers Lois gently to his bed and joins her. She looks into his eyes and sings:
I’ve loved you all my life, Fly boy,
And now I’ve let you know;
The dreams I’ve dreamed of secretly
In silence, they will grow;
Oh come to me, please come to me;
It’s where you’re meant to be.
I’ll rock away the cares of day
If you promise you will stay
And keep loving me.
Love me! The morning sun
Will be the only one to see.
I want you to depend on me
Like tides upon the moon,
And should you leave I know that
Like the tides you’ll come back soon.
My arms are open wide, Farm boy,
Come rest your weary head;
Make love to me, I need you now.
What’s needed has been said;
Lay your head upon my breast,

I’ll rock away the cares of day,
Only promise you will stay

You gave me faith ‘coz you believed

You gave me wings and made me fly
You touched my hand I could touch the sky
I lost my faith, you gave it back to me
You said no star was out of reach
You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your love I had it all
I’m grateful for each day you gave me
Maybe I don’t know that much
But I know this much is true
I was blessed because I was loved by you
You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn’t speak
You were my eyes when I couldn’t see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn’t reach

Close every door to me, hide all the world from me
Bar all the windows and shut out the light
Do what you want with me hate me and laugh at me
Darken my daytime and torture my night
If my life was important I
Would ask will I live or die
But I know the answers lie far from this world
Close every door to me, keep those I love from me
The wife of Superman, is never alone
For I know I shall find my own peace of mind
For I have been promised, that I will go home.
Other cellmates:
Close every door to me, hide all the world from me
Bar all the windows and shut out the light La la la la la la
LOIS:
Just give me a number instead of my name
Forget all about me and let me decay
I do not matter
I’m only one person
Destroy me completely then throw me away
If my life were important I Would ask will I live or die
But I know the answers lie far from this world
Close every door to me keep those I love from me
The wife of Superman,is never alone
For I know I shall find my own peace of mind
For I have been promised, that I will go home.

Twas the Night Before Mxymas
by Supermom
SCENE: The Daily Planet Christmas Party, after Mxysptlk has put the time loop into effect and the world is sinking lower and lower into despair.
Ralph tossed down another cup of eggnog and wallowed in the feelings of doom and gloom that had overtaken him. Funny thing, he thought. This morning I was excited about work, excited about Christmas, excited about life. Now all he could think about was that next cup of eggnog and the dulling feeling it induced.
The lights lower and a single spotlight illuminates the center of the bullpen. Ralph steps into the light…
“What’s it all about, Ralphie?
Is is just for the moment we live?
What’s it all about —
When you sort it out, Ralphie?
Are we meant to take more than we give,
Or are we meant to be kind?
And if only fools are kind, Ralphie,
Then I guess it is wise to be cruel.
And if life belongs —
Only to the strong, Ralphie,
What will you lend on an old golden rule?
As sure as I believe
There’s a heaven above, Ralphie,
I know there’s something much more.
Something even non-believers can believe in.
I believe in love, Ralphie.
Without true love we just exist, Ralphie.
Until you find the love you’ve missed
You’re nothing, Ralphie.
When you walk let your heart lead the way
And you’ll find love any day, Ralphie,
Ralphie.”
The spotlight dims. Ralph staggers to the punchbowl for yet another glass of nog. The clock strikes four o’clock and the cycle begins all over again.

Addiction! I’m talking addiction here !
That’s and “a” that rhymes with “k” —
76 trombones led the big parade… No that’s not it.
At about the second cycle into the depression, Jimmy sings to his new girlfriend:
Don’t know much about history
Don’t know much biology.
Don’t know much about a science book,
don’t kow much about the french I took.
But I do know that I love you.
And I know that if you love me, too,
What a wonderful world this would be.
Don’t know much about geography.
Don’t know much trigonometry.
Don’t know much about algegra.
Don’t know what a slide rule is for.
But I know that one and one is two.
And if this one could be with you,
What a wonderful world this would be.
In the third cycle, Jimmy sings to his girlfriend, who is looking like she just came from a rave:
History
Biology
Science Book
French I took.

SCENE: Actually, this was a scene we DIDN’T see, but it was implied. It took place in Ellen Lane’s:
Ellen had conquered her alcoholism and rebuilt somewhat of a relationship with her daughter Lois and new son-in-law, Clark Kent. And after years of neglect from her ex-husband, their relationship had taken a turn for the better. Sam had asked her to go off with him for Christmas — back to the place where they spent their honeymoon. A suitcase sat open on her bed as she flitted from dresser to closet and back again, trying to decide what to pack for the trip. A jaunty melody began…
“I thought love’s game was over
Lady luck had gone away.
I laid my cards on the table to play
Then I heard good fortune say,
‘They’re dealing you a new hand today!’ Oh…
Here I go again, I hear those trumpets blow again.
All aglow again, Taking a chance on love
Here I slide again, About to take that ride again
Starry eyed again, Taking a chance on love.
I thought that cards were a frame-up I never would try
But now I’m taking the game up
And the ace of hearts is high!
Things are mending now, I see a rainbow blending now
We’ll have our happy ending now
Taking a chance on love.”
“Hmmm,” Ellen thought to herself. “What was that thing that Sam used to say to the girls? Something about rainbows following story skies, I think.”
She continued with her packing. Lights fade…

Scene: At Starlabs
Clark(wearing the suit) paces around helplessly in Dr. Klein’s laboratory like a caged lion.
“Superman, teams of scientists are trying to lick this red kryptonite thing as we speak. Please be patient. And stop pacing, you’re wearing a trench into the floor!”
“I’m not used to being patient, Doc. There has to be some solution.”
“Perhaps you might consider exploring an alternative approach,”
“Yeah, anything. I just can’t stand the frustration of doing nothing. What do I do?”
“Lie down.”
“Lie down?”
“Well, your approach has always been to act, to move forward. This time, try turning inward. Find that deep mental focus that will enable you to control your powers. Game?”
“Yeah, okay.” Looking dubious, Clark hovers above the ground and “lies” down a few feet above the floor, closing his eyes.
Dr. Klein’s voice is slow and soothing. “Picture in your mind’s eye a white beach, gentle surf, clear blues skies caressed by graceful clouds, the songs of chimps afire with the mating urge…”
Clark opens his eyes slightly to look quizzically at the scientist. “Dr. Klein?”
“Oh, sorry. Often we find that true power comes to those who first agree to be powerless.” As Clark continues to float, Klein begins to sing:
Nothing’s impossible, I have found.
For when my chin is on the ground,
I pick myself up, dust myself off,
Start all over again.
Don’t lose your confidence if you slip.
Be grateful for a pleasant trip,
And pick yourself up; dust yourself off;
Start all over again.
Work like a soul inspired
‘Til the battle of the day is won.
You may be sick and tired,
But you’ll be a man, my son.
Will you remember the famous men
Who have to fall to rise again.
So take a deep breath;
Pick yourself up;
Dust yourself off;
Start all over again.
“Thanks for the encouragement Doc. You know, I do feel relaxed. Calmer that I’ve felt in days.”
“Excellent.”
Clark shifs position until stands upright again. “I feel good. Stable. Focused.”
Suddenly he sneezes. The electricity goes out amidst the sound of things crashing and breaking.
“Darn!” Dr. Klein says in the darkness.

Sex, Lies, and Videotape
by Raggiemom
Scene: Hotel Room
Clark (dressed in Superman garb): Lois, this whole thing is our fault. We’ve gotten a little bit lax. We’ve forgotten that there are not just two people in this marriage. There are three: you, me and Superman. We’re so used to the suit being a disguise, honey, but it can’t disguise how I feel about you or how we feel about each other.
Lois turns to Clark and starts swaying to the swelling background music:
Lois: Why do they think up stories that link my name with yours?
Clark: Why do the news rags gossip all day behind their doors?
(She jumps off the bed and shakes her fingers animately at Clark.)
Lois: I know a way to prove what they say is quite untrue.
Here is the jest, a practical list of ‘don’ts’ fer you.
Don’t throw sly waves at me.
Don’t please the Chief too much.
Don’t laugh at my jokes too much.
People will say we’re in love.
Don’t sigh and gaze at me.
Your sighs are so like mine.
Your eyes mustn’t glow like mine.
People will say were in love.
(She sits down grumpily on the bed)
Don’t keep saving me
Give me my lock pick and black gloves
(Expression softens)
Sweetheart, they’re suspecting things
People will say we’re in love.
Clark -(arms folded across his chest): I want to claim that you are to blame as much as me
Taking the trouble to drop that green rock in the sea?
Granting your wish, I gave you a kiss behind that tree
Just keep a slice of all advice
You give so free
Don’t praise my charm too much
Don’t look so vain with me
Don’t fly in the rain with me
People will say we’re in love
(He takes her by the hands and pulls her to her feet)
Don’t take my arm too much
Don’t keep your hand in mine
Your hand feels so grand in mine
People will say we’re in love
Don’t dance all night with me
Till the stars fade from above
They’ll see its all right with me
(He grabs her into a hug and dancing cheek to cheek they sing the last line together in an ever increasing cresendo.)
Pe..ople… will say…. we’re in love!!

Scene: just before Clark’s surprise birthday party when he says “you KNOW what pasta does to me” and from there he breaks into song & dance…
Pasta makes me horny
Soup may be hot, sexy it is not
Pasta is so sexy
Eating in a taxi gives me apoplexy
Tried ta Chicken and Chicken isn’t very licken and ta sushi brought a lotta schlock home
Also oysters, an’ Oysters are really slow
Pasta makes me horny
It’s not like cornchips
Pasta is so dizzy
Lois, it’s such an aphrodisiac
Ooh…… It’s true
Pasta thrills me
Pilled like the Eiffel Tower
I have to go and take a shower
It’s true, I do
Pasta kills me
And it makes me sexy
As for the Burrito, save it for a kid
Dining with Loiso loosens my libido
Like a big torpedo
Done the caesar, it’s hardly jungle fever
Done the mussels, it could use some muscles
Tried potatoes, woundn’t want to eat those
Paris makes my toes curly-q
Makes me glad I’m with you
Bread’s okay, if it’s for one day
Paris gets me sexy in the solar plexy
Eaten rice and everything is nice
An’ ta fruit, and things are kinda cute
Hate green beans, and fish are kinda mute
But Pasta…Pasta…
Pasta makes me… ooh, Lois

As she exits her daughter and son-in-law’s house with Sam beside her, Ellen thinks back on the most bizarre half hour of her life. Jonathan and Martha acted so strangely, hustling her off for coffee while Lois, Clark and Sam hid in the kitchen discussing a story. Ha! As if I believe that one. I just know there’s a secret that they’re all keeping from me. There’s something peculiar going on.
“Something familiar, something peculiar, something for all of them, a mystery tonight!
Clark is appealing, Lois deceiving, something for all of them, but not me tonight!
Lois with grins, Sam with his frowns. All of us lovers, liars and clowns!
Old situations, new complications, nothing portentious or polite; honesty tomorrow? Mystery tonight!
Coffee for me, cannot get tight. Secrets with Sam, that just isn’t right.
Martha’s convulsive, Jonathan repulsive, something for all of them, but not me tonight!
Pant suits and glasses! Kansas and grasses! Muffins and coffee! Am I a softie? Panderers! Philanderers! Cupidity! Timidity! Mistakes! Fakes! Rhymes! Slimes! Tumblers! Grumblers! Bumblers! Fumblers!
No secrets here, no sirree dear. Don’t come back soon, we’ll see you next year!
Stories and lying, recipes for trying: next time I’ll pin Sam to the floor! Honesty tomorrow, Mystery tonight!”

Scene: Ellen enters the Kent living room and says to Martha: “I just have this terrible feeling everyone’s keeping something from me!”
Martha: (dissembling) “Now, Ellen…”
Ellen: “You think you’re talking to a healthy person!I have about as much self-esteem as a gnat!”
Ellen then sings to Martha:
I see skies of blue and black roses too;
I see gloom and doom for me and you.
And I think to myself, what a horrible world.
I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
The pain and suffering I’ve done, they’ll never know.
And I think to myself, what a horrible world.
I try to look up to see the sky,
But I see the sadness of people going by
I see people making gestures that say I hate you!
Yes, I think to myself, what a horrible world!
