Dear Readers,
Welcome to the Lois and Clark The New Adventures of Superman Writer's Showcase! I hope you enjoy this week's Featured Writer.
This week's featured writer is a very talented and accomplished writer of L&C fanfic. Her stories are sought after by her legions of loyal readers. In the mist of taking care of her little 'ankle biter' as she loving calls her toddler son, this lady finds the time to keep her webpage updated with the most recent Round Robin fanfics. She, also, has given herself tirelessly to the organization of the Kerth Awards and helped make last year's a huge success.
Now without further ado, I am proud and honored to present this week's Writer, in the Writer's Showcase.

Lois and Clark or Superman Status
How long have you been watching L&C?
3.5 years, since the first airing of Tempus Fugitive -- actually, since the last 20 minutes,
which was all I saw the first time around -- I'd seen episodes before, but the show
seemed stuck in the age-old frustrating triangle. When I saw that.they were actually
moving towards a *real* relationship between Lois and *Clark* I had to find out what
would happen next. (Scardino! Blech! but I hung in there <g>)
How long have you been a fan of Superman?
Same. I'd seen the first two movies but wasn't a fan per se.
How long have you been writing in general?
Maybe 15 years now, on and off - started in 6th grade as a school project, and just
kept going.
How long have you been writing L&C fanfic?
3.25 years (I didn't wait long before jumping in <g>)
Types of Fanfic written?
Other than L&C? Blake's 7 (it's also available on my webpage)
Most recent story posted?
Hi-ho Silver (a very short continuation of The Lone Rider, which was written by the
IRC Round Robin group)
Favorite story you've written?
I like 'em all <g> but if I had to choose... it's a tie between "Forget Me Not", " Redux"
and "What Dreams May Come ".
Current project/projects?
I have seven (7!!) stories started but not finished (it's so much easier to start them,
you see...) The one most likely to get finished is the one I'm cowriting for Season 6
Personal picks of other Fanfic you've read?
Too many to list here; I'll just point you to my fanfic recommendations page at
http//ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/jernigan/folc.html Hmm... some
favorite authors include Zoomway, Phil Atcliff, Jeff Brogden... Sheila Harper leaves
me in awe...
Interview Questions
What attracted you to writing Fanfic and what about it do you enjoy?
I so much enjoyed reading fanfic that I wanted to contribute. I enjoy exploring the
road not taken, creating new situations and seeing how the characters react.
What about the L&C and the characters do you like the most?
I love their partnership, they really do need each other. And I love the poignant
aspects of the story - Clark is alone in a very elemental way, and while Lois rescues
him by sharing his secret, then she's isolated from the world with him... (plus I love the
fun parts of being in on a secret <g>)
How do you interpret them in your work?
I try to keep them consistent with how I saw them on the show. I just
create new situations and record how they react <g> Sometimes they
surprise me.
How did you begin writing in general?
I think it was part of a 6th grade school project. I've always been a big reader, but
when I was writing, I had lots more control over how things happened, and I liked
that. I spent my teen years building elaborate fantasy worlds, writing little bits of stories.
What are you working on now and where do you see it going?
Like I said, I have 7 stories started. The one most likely to be completed first is for
L&C Season 6 (which I'm helping to coordinate). The others may or may not ever
be finished.
What is your opinion about the following types of L&C fanfic's?
Action?
It's okay, but not why I watch/read.
Drama?
Can be excellent, but I'm leery of tearjerkers (being manipulated by implausible
actions/plot twists)
Humor?
You've got to have at least a little humor in everything, it was such a big part of the show.
Nfic?
It can be interesting, but I confess that sometimes I get bored (okay, they have sex a lot,
I *get* it already...)
Has *everything* been done in your opinion, and if not, what is left?
There are always new angles, new perspectives, fresh voices. If the general idea's
been done before, just make sure you do it *well* and yours will stand out.
What do you think makes the best story?
That's so hard to say... good plotline/situation, good characterization good writing
spelling/grammar has to be decent enough that I'm not mentally tripping over it) -- and
a dash of humor here and there. There are so many different "best" stories that this
is difficult to quantify.

I'm just very grateful to all the writers who've written such wonderful stories, and to
the various folks along the way who've maintained the archive so that we could *read*
the stories. I also appreciate anyone who's ever given me positive feedback, that's
a big payoff for me <g> (thanks Annie, for undertaking this project -)
